Best Colorado Wedding Venues

Everything you need to know to find your dream Colorado wedding venue.

Your colorado wedding venue is the most IMPORTANT vendor to book (besides your photographer wink wink) because your venue is going to be what ultimately determines what date you get married on, how many guests you are allowed to invite, what other vendors you need to book and so on! A lot of wedding venues have preferred vendors for catering, rentals, and more and some have their own in-house vendors for these so it is important to find all of this out before booking your venue!

One thing about wedding venues to consider is what you want your aesthetic and vibe to be, if you are looking for a rustic farmhouse wedding, then getting married in an indoor studio is not going to be the best fit for you. If you are looking for modern and boho inspiration then a rustic farmhouse barn is not going to be the best venue for you to get married at! SO here is my best advice: make a mood board of your DREAM wedding, do not think about budget or anything, just put together a mood board including color schemes, textures, environments, and everything so that when you visit venues you can see if each venue will help you bring your dream to life or make it harder!

Let’s look at the best wedding venues in Colorado

Piney river ranch

Vail, Colorado

Everything you need to know about Piney River Ranch in Vail, Colorado

Some couples want the feel of an elopement but still want to have guests and family members involved in their big day. Piney river ranch is perfect for that! Sitting at the base of some of Colorado 14ers gives you a jaw-dropping background for all of your photos and your ceremony! Not to mention it is dog friendly, so all of your fur babies can be a part of your wedding day!

Piney River Ranch also has lots of onsite housing, like cabins and glamping tents you can rent out so that way all your family and guests can stay on the grounds the night before and night of!

The road to Piney river ranch is an unpaved dirt road for over 7 miles and takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to drive down, so make sure to plan for that and make sure to have high lifted cars and 4 wheel drive for the worst-case scenario! There is also no cell service out there so it is perfect for an unplugged getaway!

San Sophia Overlook in Telluride, Colorado

A wedding venue steps away from a gondola, look no further than San Sophia overlook in Telluride, Colorado. A part of the Telluride Ski Resort, this overlook gives you a breathtaking view that doesn’t need much added to it to make it spectacular. Having your wedding at a ski resort also gives you an endless amount of things to do for the week and weekend. This is the perfect mix of epic mountain elopement and elegant wedding venue all in one! with a wedding deck for the ceremony and grass for all your guest’s chairs, the mountains in the background will keep everyone’s jaws on the floor.

One thing to consider with Telluride is that it is a treck from Denver, you want to make sure you plan for your entire weekend to be in Telluride and do not book any early morning flights out of Denver the next morning! Otherwise, you will be driving all through the night. This is something to consider for your guests too, you either want to book a big cabin Airbnb or two, or block off hotel rooms at the resort or a local hotel so that your guests are not driving through the night either!

With San Sophia Overlook it truly does all the work for you, you really do not even need to add florals to make the ceremony site amazing, so this is perfect for minimalistic and outdoor brides who are also having a bigger guests list!

Lunch Rock at Winter Park Resort

Want something with just as amazing views as Telluride, but a little closer to Denver? look no further than Lunch Rock overlook at Winter Park Resort. Lunch Rock is accessible via busses for your guests or by the express lift if you want to make a statement riding the lift in your wedding attire! The view at the top is worthy of it all, and will give you the prettiest mountain photos you could ever dream of! Lunch rock is ideal for guests lists of up to 140 guests, so this gives you the freedom to invite those extra few friends and extended family members!

With an indoor area for your reception, you are able to seat all your guests for dinner while still having the epic mountain ceremony of your dreams! They also have catering options and sample menus you can choose from, so that takes away the stress of having to find your own caterer to travel up the mountain for you! Just remember the ceremony site will be held at 11,200 feet above sea level, so if you have family and friends traveling from states below or at sea level, advise them to travel in a few days early so that they can adjust to the altitude! Trust me when I say this, you will want to adjust to it, my whole family traveled to Colorado for our wedding (you can see more from our day here!) from Georgia and all needed oxygen cans *yes you can buy these at the local stores haha to help them breathe easier!

4 Eagle ranch also offers collective retreats with glamping tents so you and your guests can all stay together and have the weekend of your dreams!

Weddings at Three Peaks Ranch

Not to be mistaken with the ranch above, this is a different wedding venue! Three Peaks Ranch is in Westcliffe, Colorado around 3 hours from Denver and 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs, pretty easy to get to! This venue is AMAZING in the fact they have a very detailed list of vendors you can look at for lodging, florals, rentals, styling & design, day-of planners, and more! Three peaks ranch gives you the option to have an outdoor ceremony with just you and the mountains, or you can have it under one of their newly built open framed cabins! You can also have your reception on one of their newly built platforms and dance the night away under the stars with all of your favorite people!

They also have on-site modern cabins you can rent out if you and your partner want to stay site the night of your wedding so that you do not have to worry about driving anywhere the night of your biggest day! It is the perfect secluded venue to feel like you are perfectly tucked away in the mountains, while not having to worry about the foot traffic you would see if you were inside the national park or somewhere else.

The Barn at Sunset Ranch

Last but definitely not least is The Barn at Sunset Ranch located in the heart of Buena Vista is going to seriously blow you away. The views from the barn at sunset ranch are unbeatable and will leave you and your guests trying to find a way to move out there so you can see them every day. The barn is locally owned and has a 5,000 square foot barn to offer you the perfect indoor reception spot so that no matter what time of year it is, your guests will be warm and cozy inside! Having the barn also gives you a weather backup plan, so if your original plans are for an outdoor ceremony and it rains or snows (this happens often here in Colorado) you can easily move your ceremony inside the barn as well as your reception!

This venue can host up to 180 guests so this is perfect for those of you looking for a larger outdoor/indoor venue to accommodate all of your guests!

Finding your perfect Colorado wedding venue

Once you get engaged, there are two things you want to look into first, your venue and your photographer! You can find more about me (I would LOVE to be your wedding photographer) here! You can also find more about my packages and pricing here! Once you find what venues you are interested in you will want to set up tours to see these venues in person, with everything going on in the world a lot of these venues are also offering online digital tours for you from the comfort of your home! BUT I would HIGHlY recommend finding a way to see it in person because things can look different online!

Once you find the perfect venue, it is time to pick the date! Make sure to ask the venue if any other couples have inquired about that date so that you can know how serious it is and if you need to put down a deposit ASAP! You also want to make sure to ask them about any requirements they may have (ie: vendors, caterers, alcohol or not, etc) and make sure everything you want for your big day will be allowed!

happy wedding planning!
